Feeding & Clothing Those in Need

Here in Mexico there is a tremendous need because of the extreme poverty in many areas.  The average minimum wage is less than $10.00 a day.  Most families work 6 days a week and are still not able to make ends meet. The local stores will sell diapers and other items individually since the people do not have the money to buy the whole package.  When you drive down the streets at most major intersections you will see the homeless people begging for money or food. Many people will try to wash your car window at the traffic light or sell you a package of gum.  They will do what ever they need to do so they can have food for the day.  In a lot of cases young girls turn to prostitution and life on the street because there is not enough money at home to feed them. So their parents put them out on the street.  It is extremely difficult for the Indigenous to find work because of the discrimination here. Also for anyone having a handicap there is usually no work that is available to them. You will see people pushing a relative in a wheelchair begging for money as their only means of support for their family.  On the news there was a story about 11 people living in a one room, metal house.  There was such a great need since some of the family was sick and needed medicine, but the family could not buy food and medicine.  It would be one or the other.

God has placed a burden on our hearts to not only meet the spiritual needs of the people but to also meet the physical needs. We have begun to have an outreach in the community where we will show an evangelistic movie, give the people a chance to respond to the gospel and give their hearts to Jesus. After the time of ministry we had 50 bags of food to pass out. We gave one to each family that was present and demonstrated to them the love of Jesus.

This is going to be a great way to present the gospel, meet the needs of the homeless, hungry and those who have been affected by any type of disaster. When you are willing to help the people are willing to listen.
